ROAST TYPE: DARK ROAST
Specialty Coffee from Sumatra, Indonesia
For our dark roast coffee lovers, this is the one for you. The Sumatra Mandheling is known for its smooth, heavy body and the non-acidic taste of coffee with hints of sweetness. The Indonesia Sumatra Mandheling gains many of its interesting characteristics from the volcanic soil it is grown in. The Ring of Fire region and high altitude allows the coffee to develop slowly and consistently to produce its unique flavour profile.
COFFEE TASTE NOTES
As seen in the picture, the wet-hulled processing method allows the coffee cherry to dry partially while still on the bean for a day before it is washed off and dried again. It leaves the beans with a deep green-blue colour, which is an easy way to distinguish most beans from the region.
Grade 1 represents the highest grade of coffee from the Mandheling region.
