COFFEE TASTE NOTES
KIAMBU REGION
Our Kiambu coffee is grown on several small estates in Komothai, Kiambu. The farm holders work together in grower groups called “Ngewa-Komothai Farmers” The group is made up of around 30 smallholder farmers who process their own harvests and whose lots are then blended together as dried parchment at the Kahawa Bora Millers in Thika, Kenya.
Many quality-focused estate owners do not produce enough parchment to supply the dry mills individually. To help small estate owners reach minimums and maintain traceability, our partners help facilitate grower groups that can connect the small estate owners with others in the area who maintain similar quality standards and profile of crops.
Located at the foothills of the Gatamaiyo Forest, the area is also known for its tea and come of the Kenya Coffee Research Foundation.
