The Zambia Decaf is our favourite decaf coffee we’ve tasted to date. Our first release of a decaf coffee, the Zambia AAA decaf has a beautifully light and sweet aroma with notes of brown sugar and crisp pear. We are not only excited about this coffee flavour we also picked this specifically to highlight all the good work the dry mill is accomplishing. They have a strong emphasis on gender equality and empower women in the field where they may have been restricted tradtionally. We want to champion this approach!
COFFEE TASTE NOTES
SWISS WATER PROCESS
The Swiss Water Decaf Process is a method of extracting the caffeine from the coffee utilizing a 10 hour process of water, and temperature. It’s a natural solution free of chemicals that involves soaking the unroasted coffee beans in hot water. This will allow the soluble solids to be removed from the coffee and dissolve into the water. The final step is to filter the solution through carbon filters that remove the caffeine. The coffee is sent to a dryer to remove the excess water on the beans and prep it for packaging.
